T For Travel

I have been meaning to take some time off and get away. I really enjoy driving so I am planning on a very long road trip. Driving is a meditative experience for me, driving on the open road. I especially like driving the south west with the vast expanses of space and magnificent views and wide open spaces. The trip from here to there is about one thousand miles, about a 14 hour drive total. I am thinking of taking three day for the drive so I can take my time and not have to push myself too hard. Heading down to Tucson over to El Paso and across Texas to San Antonio. I went on line and booked a room at the best San Antonio hotels I could find. The would be the only thing I will book for the trip before departing. When driving I like to be able to be free from schedules and restraints. I like to be able to take my time and stop if I care to or keep going if I am in the mood to drive. Not having reservations lined out for me gives me this freedom. I am guessing the first night I will stay in El Paso. There I will probably stay for part of the day to visit with old friends then get back on the road to San Antonio early afternoon. Driving across Texas can be challenging there are a lot of long stretches of highway across very flat land and the road barely has a curve in it. But with the right music and snacks and an occasional stop here and there the flat expanses are doable. Any way the drive will be long, but I will find it relaxing, I love to see the landscape change from desert to mountain to rolling hills to plains.
