If you’re building a new company, there’s a temptation to cut corners wherever possible in order to reserve capital for more important elements of your business. Once mistake to avoid is buying discount web hosting. This usually means that purchasing a personal hosting plan rather than paying for business hosting.

You may think that the only difference between personal and professional web hosting is the cost, but that’s not the case. Businesses have different needs and expectations from a website. Personal sites are about external expression of ideas. Business sites are about providing interaction with customers and many require the ability to take online orders or process direct purchases. This requires professional features such as the capacity to process credit card transactions and to provide SSL certificates.

Business sites may need to integrate inventory databases with the architecture of the site which can require more advanced programming languages than a personal hosting plan can support. In addition, the technical support required to handle these features and any problems with the site will be more sophisticated than a personal website needs. You want to make sure your web hosting plan can handle all these things quickly and efficiently.

A final reason that business plans are more expensive is the shear size of the hosting resources needed. Your company site is likely to need more disc storage space as well as more bandwidth for serving up pages and handling transactions than a personal website will need. The last thing you want is to use up all your allocated bandwidth and have your site be down for the rest of the month — or until you can pay for the upgrade to a business plan that you could bought in the first place.

Traditional businesses still exist, and even thrive, but in the twenty-first century , companies are experimenting with new ways of conducting their daily operations. As a result, a time traveler from twenty years ago might be hard pressed to recognize the office of 2010 and would find many of the choices made by business owners to be unusual or even outrageous.

One of the first things that businesses learned to do was to lease equipment and even furnishings rather than buy them. While the time traveler might be familiar with the idea of renting office copiers or even leasing computers for an entire office building, they probably wouldn’t understand the need for one-time audio visual rentals . To them, buying a projector or sound system makes more sense than renting, but to someone running a mainly virtual office or a mobile firm that travels between cities without having physical offices in each one, the ability to rent equipment as needed and not have to worry about storing them is essential. And many companies have rushed in to fill the gap in providing these types of rentals.

The virtual office itself would be incomprehensible to old time businessmen. The idea that employees can work from home and that home could be in another time zone or country would boggle their mind. The reality of employees who only need a computer and telephone to do their job has only become reality in the last decade. More and more employers are learning that trusting their employees to work from home is a great trade off when balanced against the financial resources required to maintain physical offices.

Corporate blogs are quickly replacing company newsletters as a way to reach out to employees, shareholders, and the general public as well as the press. Some companies have separate blogs for each audience, such as Southwestern Company Consumers . The one thing that blogs and online newsletters have in company is a debt to the tradition of letter writing. Long before the world wide web, even before there were typewriters , companies communicated through letters, from pencil and paper all the way back to quills and even clay tablets.

The history of letter writing stretches back thousands of years. While most business correspondence is about the transaction of business, some companies learned early on that letters could be used for marketing, promotion, recognition and motivation. An entire industry was built on the idea of sending direct sales pleas through the mail. Spam email wouldn’t exist if junk mail hadn’t evolved from the first offer letters sent to potential customers by enterprising businessmen. Sales organizations such as Southwestern Company were some of the first to recognize the value of writing encouraging letters to their sales force to motivate them to work harder and more efficiently. Historically, these letters would be individual, from a manager or corporate officer to a specific salesman or student intern and helped build an solid culture of loyalty and a sense of family between isolated workers and the home office.

Today those letters have evolved into emails, blog entries, and facebook wall posts as well as text messages, twitter updates, and even motivational or education video posts on youtube as companies try to find the most effective and efficient means of communicating with employees, consumers, and anyone with a stake or potential interest in their organization. Just remember that it all started with a letter.

Everyday we acquire new customer service experiences; some are good and some are bad. Every store that we go into or service that we elicit leaves us with a positive or negative experience which, as for customers, will greatly effect whether or not they come back. For this reason, business owners need to carefully consider their customer service policies and the effect it will have on their business.

Some business put a strong emphasis on maintaining good customer service; even going so far as to have their employees participate in customer service training and team building programs . When customers and clients have a good experience, it makes them feel valued and, in turn, encourages them to return and continue doing business with that establishment.

There are some larger companies that don’t place customer service as a high priority. They assume that they have a large enough customer base that a few disgruntled customers won’t make a difference. However, over time, if a company gets a reputation for poor customer service it can have lasting effects. If customers don’t feel that their needs are being met or their business appreciated, they will quickly find a place that does.

Without customers, businesses would cease to exist. Providing good customer service is a way to thank your customers for keeping doors open and your business running.

Being in college can mean having a hard time finding a job and a place to stay. You need a place that is near the college, and if you don’t have a car you will also need a job that is nearby. The unfortunate thing is that all the jobs that are nearby are also being hunted down by the other hundreds or thousands of students who are also going to that college. There are a few kind of cool jobs you can get as a student though. Here is one that was recently found and suggested to be put out there.

Sometimes property management companies need a superintendant or something, if you are up in Canada, try Transglobe. Property management services jobs can be hard, but they also can be rewarding. Superintendent positions are usually live-in positions, so it takes care of the place to stay and getting some money out of it as well. You do have to be good with money and be a good team player, though. Of course, if you aren’t in Canada, there are other companies to check out besides.

What is a great job you’ve found for college students?
What was your favorite job you had in college?

Carl Laemmle Jr. was a professional. Development of the film industry was he wanted and what he accomplished. He was a large part of why the movie industry produces so many horror films today. He provided the way for the Wolfman, for the Phantom, for Dracula, and for the many terrors that still lie steeping at the bottom of the collective consciousness in the United States today, and parts of the world too. Wherever there is a ghostly sheet tacked up with some crooked nails and a projector, the oldest would do€, there can be fright.

The initial major horror picture he had a hand in concocting was The Man Who Laughs , a picture about a boy carved with a permanent grin in face. In fact, it was his idea for Universal Studios to start making horror films, the same studio he would later inherit from his father at a young and tender age. The film starred Conrad Veidt and Mary Philbin, who would later go on to star as the beautiful Christine Dubois to the Phantom of Lon Cheney. It actually reconnected Veidt and German Expressionist filmmaker Paul Leni. Previously the two had made together a film called Waxworks. Veidt had to wear a painful prosthetic piece developed for him. Originally, the part Veidt had as the tortured man who laughs, was to go to Lon Cheney but due to contractual obligations, Cheney had to drop out.

Carl Laemmle didn’t have to go through the chutes and ladders to become the head of the studio. He looped around being an executive. Training was never to be a part of his career. But from the decision he made to start marketing horror films, it is clear he was above the kind of training others today in the film industry could benefit from. Where did his idea to start up a horror franchise originate? The horrors of WWII. People could not confront the sons and fathers and brothers who came back from the war with the kind of deformities that Frankenstein and Eric the Phantom and Gwynplaine the laughing man represented on the screens. Laemmle was just smart enough to provide them with a voice.

This time of year property owners and companies, such as Transglobe Property Management, take a close look at their yearly revenues. They also take stock of the level of customer service they have provided. This is necessary as today there are many different choices for renters, and there is no need for one to rent from those that do not provide the highest of standards when it comes to their property managers.

People look for property managers who take care of any issues directly, quickly and efficiently. They are also going so far as to look into the history of employment, meaning do they have a constant turnover of workers, or have the same people remained loyal and happy over the years. This will say a lot about a company. There are a variety of management properties to choose from, but Transglobe Property Management will always provide the utmost care and consideration when it comes to providing serviced for their tenants. The grounds and the parking lots are well lit and meticulously maintained, which is not only pleasing to the eye, but provides a safe environment for all those living in their communities.

One of the best ways to ensure that the grounds and the lots remain so, is to make certain that they were properly constructed in the first place. The best way for the asphalt or the sidewalks to wear out quicker is if the cement was not properly poured, leaving pot holes and uneven areas to collect water, oil or other debris. This is important in all environments but particularly so in climates where the temperatures drop below freezing on a regular basis. When the temperatures fall and rise, and the collected water freezes and thaws this wreaks havoc on the streets, and on the grounds surrounding the complex. And rather than finding it necessary to do repairs each summer, it is just best to have the cement evenly distributed in the first place. These are simple ways that managers of rental properties can ensure that their residents remain happy, and safe.

So it’s a birthday, anniversary or even nearing Christmas time. And you are so tired of buying the same old gifts. How many times can you really buy dad a bottle of cologne? And does Mom really want more candles? Probably not. Gift giving is something that can be an extravagant or as ordinary as you want. But what if you want to give someone something they would never dream of buying for themselves? Here are some great ideas of how you can surprise someone special in your life with a gift they would never expect!

Travel: Buying someone a trip is giving them a gift of an experience. Think about doing an impromptu weekend. You can get great deals at the last minute on travel web sites such as Expedia, Travelocity and Priceline. The nice thing is that they do packages, so you can just pay one price and not have to worry about the rest.

Hot tub: If you are looking for a gift for someone in your life that could use a little relaxation, consider buying them a hot tub. There are great sites on the internet, including the website of Steven Barbarich, choosehottubsdirect.com that can help you make this gift become a reality at a great price. A hot tub is great for athletes and couples too!

Something they won’t buy for themselves: Does your wife always talk about wishing she could work out at home instead of going to the gym? Why not consider buying her an exercise machine as a gift. Now, I don’t recommend this for a birthday, but if your wife will not take the gift as some kind of insult it would be great around Christmas time. This or anything you can think of that someone would not buy for them always makes a great gift.
