Franklin, Ross, Capone and Rocky in Philadelphia

without comments

I was up early in order to catch a bus to Philadelphia; I had to catch the sub into Chinatown and then board the bus. The trip lasted only 3 hours and when I arrived I walked down to my hotel. I booked the hotel the night before on this new site . I got there and wasn’t sure if it was the right place, it seemed pretty fancy, I mean, it was really ritzy! This guy took my bag and took me to my room. My room was unbelievable, the bed was massive and had a remote! The guy who took me to my room said he would arrange a ticket for the ‘hop on hop off’ bus for my stay here in Philly! I wasn’t really expecting to give him a tip, but since he understood my needs, I gave him a great tip, $20.

I went walking around and found Little Petes Diner and ordered my first Philly Cheesestake roll, which was totally awesome. I headed back to my fabulous hotel and the front desk had my ‘hop on hop off’ bus transfer ticket ready and waiting for me. I headed straight out and found a bus that took me to the Liberty Bell, which is this famous bell that rang out freedom during the Revolutionary war. I hopped on another bus and just rode it for about 90 minutes, seeing all the sites of Philadelphia. The bus took me past the US mint and past the Betsy Ross home, the lady who sewed the first American flag and we went past Benjamin Franklin’s grave-site. There was actually a lot of Benjamin’s stuff here in Philadelphia. I saw iron statues of historic figures on almost every corner. I really liked going past all the four railway stations and water works that are on the Monopoly board-game.

I got off at the next stop to visit the Museum of Arts, basically, not to go inside, but to run up the famous ‘Rocky’ steps. This was the most excited I got so far on my tour of Philly. I walked up to Eastern State Penitentiary , which was open for 150 years and closed in 1971. I went on the tour and really enjoyed the escape stories and knowing Al Capone was once here. It was time to go back and enjoy my awesome hotel room!
