Taking it Easy in Cape Town
The night bus was, to say the least, interesting. There was only one other person on board, a girl named Di. I was glad to meet her, she was German and was very pleasant to chat with. I managed to doze a bit, because one minute I was listening to the first song of ‘La Traviata‘ and the next thing I knew the opera was over. I eat my peanut-butter and jelly sandwich that I had made earlier and it sure hit the spot.
We made it to Cape Town early and I walked to one of those Cape Town car rentals places and hired a car. Buses are good, but the freedom of a car is so worth the cost. I then found some nice accommodations, the porter gave me my own room tour. I have a great view of Table Mountain. The same porter told me that it’s the Cape Town Jazz Festival starting tomorrow night. That actually sounded good, he said Goldfish is playing. I wonder how he knew I liked Goldfish, ah, the stickers on my luggage! Ha, a dead give away. I had a lovely hot shower and some tea, then headed out to Long Street.
This morning I woke up and it was late, 7am, I like to go for a run around 6am, but I didn’t beat myself up over it and just ran a little less and a lot harder. I drove down to the Wilderness Market, loved it. A very nice market, smaller than the Sedgefield one, but I got to talking to a couple operating the donut stall, which landed me some free donuts. I then bought a pair of earrings, little dangely moon crescents. Then drove to Wilderness beach and chilled for a bit with reading my book. I took a stroll along the coastline and came up to some bizarre creatures that squirt water. I then drove to Cloud 9 viewpoint, the view is amazing, it’s breathtaking. It drove back into the Cape and decided to take a nice long nap before I go out for dinner and then call it an early night. Tomorrow I’m off to the southern most point of Africa.
