A day in Madrid

without comments

We wanted to go the Prado Museum (who doesn’t) and did not know when to get off the double decker bus Ginger and I got tickets for and were triumphantly riding about on top, in the very front of the open carriage. We wanted to lean forward over the front of the bus a la the move Titanic, but we settled for sitting and watching the incredible sites of Madrid. We found out about the bus and the great way to see the city from the local Luxury Hotels Madrid Spain that we picked up on the way here from Toledo. We are from Toledo, too, but not Spain, but Ohio and had to go there first. It was quite a kick to see our namesake town. This is the first time I had ever left the state of Ohio, and I had to see Toledo, where I was born (the Ohio one.) We do not know what we had expected when we got here, maybe bullfighting rings everywhere, bull fighting on television, bullfighting schools. Instead, we stood in the Puerta del Sol, the prime center of Spain,, the point where all places are measured form that extend out in redial lines to the country side and and beyond, the the outer limits of Spain proper. That is where we started bear sightings, as a bear appears in the Madrid coat of arms, and you see this all over Madrid. Whenever we saw a coat of arms bears, we would punch each other in the arm, so you had to be quick. Hey, who said we Ohioans do not know how to have a good time? We had heard driving here was unwise at best and one glance at the crazy raceway that is Madrid streets and we were content to take the excellent Metro underground and, of course, the double decker bus
