Fox in Birmingham

without comments

Fox Hollies Park is one of the most prettiest parks in Birmingham. It’s located in the Acocks Green area. For me, the main attraction was the stream which runs right through the park. Clean, clear, deep water where I could watch these small fish struggle against the current. Along the banks of the stream, I watched children wade in the warm pleasing water.

Then, there’s a large pool containing a variety of different species of fish and people are allowed to go fishing, but they had to throw them back in after weighing them. I like to fish, and I was staying at the Birmingham Airport Hotel for 2 weeks on business, so I thought I’d find a place that would let me rent a fishing rod. Another point of interest in the park, are two large play areas; one at each end of the park. There was monkey bars, a fireman’s pole, slides, tire swings and other equipment for children to play on, and me. I actually, played on every piece of equipment and didn’t break a thing, but most important, I didn’t break any bones. The entire flooring of the playground was made of a spongy tile, not so much a soft landing, Per Se, if one falls off, but definitely enough of a cushion that no bones are broken.

I found out, that over the last few years, Birmingham has spruced up the park with planting over 3000 mature trees. Making a wonderful woodland area. The new trees mingle spectacularly with the older trees giving a sense of ecologically balanced conditions. There also are lots of lush green inviting grass which is perfect for a picnic. There’s so many places to choose from to eat a picnic lunch that you don’t need to worry if you’re crowding in on another picnicker. But, if you don’t have time to set out a picnic on the grass, there are plenty of wooden park benches to sit on, but not as many as you’d think. Fox Hollies is stunning and truly worth a visit when in Birmingham.
